“Realizations” is born
“Realisation is a matter of becoming conscious of that which is already realised”.

Our brain is constantly processing information and is capable of rewiring neural networks according to our experiences, allowing for cognitive development. Piaget, stated that our brain organizes our experiences and integrates the new ones with the old ones. Vygotsky says we internalize with inner speech the learning derived from social interaction and experiences. Leading me to…
Realization #1: Cognition is not fixed, it can grow with time an experience.
The ability to think about how we think is what neuroscientists call metacognition. Recently research has shown that metacognition is related to self-awareness and that using these high order thinking skills can change the brain’s structure, making it more flexible and open to learning.
Realization #2: Thinking about my own thoughts and processes, being aware of what I think/feel and what made me get there, will help me better adjust to life experiences.
Realization #3: Reflecting and writing my life experiences helps me become self-aware, assimilate, accomodate my learnings.
Realization #4: Sharing my learnings with others will lead to internalization not only from my part and hopefully through this collaboration (of writing and reading) we can co-construct a community of self-aware parents, teachers and individuals fostering positive youth development.
After all these realizations I decided to create my blog and share it with you. I hope you’ll enjoy my life journey and learn from it.
